Durian Fruit

Kevin and I were watching 'Bizarre Foods' on the Travel Network last night and it featured a segment on the durian fruit.
"Widely known and revered in Southeast Asia as the "King of Fruits,"[1] the fruit is distinctive for its large size, unique odour, and a formidable thorn-covered husk. "
The show depicted it as a very stinky fruit which is very popular in Southeast Asia yet very expensive and hard to find in the US. I was very curious about this fruit and mentioned to Kevin how I'd love to try it. Imagine my surprise when I saw one sitting on my mother's counter this morning! It turns out that one of my dad's coworkers had given one to him yesterday-what a coincidence! They brought it to our house and we all tried it. Kevin wasn't very fond of it but I thought it was unique yet good. It had a custard-like, fruity taste with a touch of onion? curry? garlic? I couldn't detect the exact flavor. Kevin insisted that we put it on the porch because it was grossing him out. Hana had a taste and absolutely loved it. She kept putting her spoon to the fruit to get more. I am proud of my daughter's palate. She is definitely not a picky eater :)

Hi Grandma!

Grandma came for a short visit this weekend. Hana hadn't seen her since she was 5 weeks old and was thrilled to see her again. They had a fun filled day on Monday when Momma and Daddy went to work. Hana loved all the extra attention and absolutely loved showing off for Grandma.

Happy Father's Day!

All Daddy wanted for Father's Day was to watch the US Open without interruption and to go to the driving range. I bet he wishes Mommy's gift requests were this easy ;). Below is a picture of the guys at the driving range-Kevin, Uncle Alex and Grandpa. Hana joined the family on the putting green. The driving range was full of young kids with clubs. Kevin can't wait until he can teach Hana to play golf!

Build & Demolish

Hana got her first set of blocks and we've quickly learned that it means that we build structures for her and she demolishes them in a second. It's so much fun! Below is a robot Daddy built while Hana was in her room. Hana sees the robot and charges toward it.
Two seconds later, this is what has become of the robot.
Anyone want to guess who ends up packing away all the pieces at night?! :)

Big Boo Boo

Last Saturday Hana had a freak accident. Kevin was with her and she tripped and her bottom two teeth went through her lower lip. I heard her cry and thought she just bumped her head. Kevin brought her to me. I started freaking out because there was blood everywhere-Kevin's shirt, her shirt, her mouth and she was rubbing it all over her face.
We were able to stop the bleeding with a cold washcloth.
Hana's mouth was swollen, cut and bruised but no major damage-whew! Later we went downtown and let Hana run wild on the streets of San Francisco.
She loved chasing pigeons and watching all the people walk by.
